The Act of Losing

The rhythm of her heavy heart beats low,
And my tears begin to show.
"I don't want to miss you or say goodbye,
I want to wake up and know I can still tell you hi."

Her breathing stops,
My heart beat hops.

"Don't leave me," I scream!
"Please please let this all be a dream!"

Then her line runs flat and long,
Time slowly dragging on.
This can't happen to her now,
My head I bow.

She is gone,
How can I move on?
